Green Cardamom

Scientific Name: Elettaria Cardamomum

Green cardamom, or Elaichi, is a highly aromatic Indian spice that we source from plantations in south India. It is grown and processed in the southern states. Each pod is carefully hand-picked and dried in the shade. The plants are grown naturally and free of chemicals. Cardamom is called the queen of spices
Cardamom can quickly overpower other ingredients, so it is gradually added. Cardamom pairs well with poultry, red meat, lentils, oranges, rice and other warm spices, like nutmeg and cinnamon. It’s ideal in curries, teas & baked goods.

Cardamom may help fight bacteria in the mouth, a common cause of bad breath, cavities, and gum disease. A recent study found that cardamom seeds and fruit could help improve oral health due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

It is used in the Food & Beverage industry as Green Cardamom pods give away more flavour than ground cardamom powder. Even though it is mostly known for flavouring Asian dishes, cardamom is widely used to flavour confectionery, pastries, and baked products across the world.
